Saffron Orange Morning Juice Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Are you looking for a beverage whose taste - simply put - is out of this world?

Then give this saffron orange morning juice recipe a try.

This recipe is quick and easy to make.

Make it right before bedtime, then refrigerate it overnight or while breakfast is cooking in the morning.

It takes under 20 minutes to make and 10 minutes of that time is letting the spices steep in the sugar water.

You can use fresh squeezed orange juice in place of purchased orange juice if you prefer.

Keep this recipe on hand to make especially if you want a really special breakfast drink or are having guests over you want to impress.

This recipe makes enough for one large or two small cups.

Feel free to adjust the measurements to meet your needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup pure cane sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • scant teaspoon crushed star anise and whole saffron strands (I used more star anise than saffron - see the photo above to help you gauge the amount of star anise that I used.)
  • 2 cups organic orange juice

Instructions

  1. Put the sugar and water in a pan and bring it to a boil stirring occasionally to help the sugar dissolve.
  2. Once the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is boiling, remove it from the heat.
  3. Add the spice mixture, stir to combine and cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil.
  4. Set the pan aside and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Pour the orange juice into a tall glass or pitcher - if you are making enough for more than one person.
  6. Using a funnel and cheesecloth, strain the sugar spice mixture into the orange juice.
  7. Stir well to combine the flavors.
  8. Add ice and enjoy!
