I use a lot of sea salt and whole peppercorns in my cooking. Finding a way to grind them as I need them is really important to me. I don’t like bringing out my large grinder every time I need to grind sea salt or peppercorns. The Ozeri Fresko Duo met my needs for a double salt grinder (I already have an Ozeri electric pepper grinder) – and not only that but it uses a lot less sea salt than my big grinder because it grinds it so much finer. This means I use less but still get the flavor I want. I feel like this helps me to cook healthier because I am using less salt.
I like the fact that if I chose to put peppercorns in one end and sea salt in the other end that I would only have to grab one grinder. Since I am using mine for two kinds of salt – Himalayan pink and blue salt – I can easily switch between the two kinds of salt. I feel like this keeps me from using just one type of salt because both are there, easily accessible and all I have to do is twist the pepper mill. I have arthritis in my hands and some grinders are hard for me to use. I was curious if this grinder would be like so many I already have and just be too difficult to use. It turns very easily and does not make noise when you are grinding with it. I like this.
The chambers initially look small. It seems like they don’t hold much but I have had the same amount of salt in both chambers since I started using the Ozeri Fresko Duo three weeks ago and it’s not time to fill the chambers again. I do use salt in every meal. I feel it is because I am using less salt now because of how fine the grinders are grinding the salt. The grinder is easily adjustable for those who prefer a coarser grind. I happen to like the powder fine grind I am getting.
The overall appearance of the Ozeri Fresko Duo is sleek. It looks great sitting on my counter and would look equally nice on the table during a holiday meal. It is small enough that it is not obtrusive yet large enough to daily fit in my hand. Both ends have caps on them so your salt or pepper is kept dry and fresh. It would also fit into a picnic basket or other container so you could easily take it with you on vacation or when you go out to eat. For those of us who prefer using sea salt this is great. I do like the product and will continue to use it on a daily basis just as I have done since it arrived.
