Table Setting Ideas

Creating an elegant meal is about more than just the food. The atmosphere is equally important because – let’s face it – no matter how fancy the food looks, if the decor is too  simple, the overall effect will not be the same.

It is possible to jazz up your dining table – even if it is a card table or TV tray on a budget. Keep an eye out for sales after the major holidays and at the end of the season. Often you can find very expensive merchandise marked down as much as 90% making it possible to buy things you could not otherwise afford. Another great place to look for bargains is second hand stores. Keep an eye out for antique linens, lace or exquisite pieces of material that are large enough to cover your table.

Second hand stores are a great place to look for glasses and dishes as well. Just because the pieces don’t match, doesn’t mean they won’t work well together. Use your creativity. Ask your friends and family for items they no longer use. Here are some ideas to get your juices flowing – and believe me – all of these table settings cost very little – most under $25.
