  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease a 9 X 13 baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl mix butter, sugar, and vanilla until well blended.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Add the cocoa powder and mix well.
  6. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and mix together. Remember there may be some lumps and this is ok.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips and nuts.
  9. Bake 30 minutes.
  10. Cool completely before cutting and serving.
