In addition to clothing, shelter, and food, water is one of the basic human needs, and lack of potable water is one of the major causes of disease and death all over the world, especially in developing countries. According to the UNICEF, about 783 million of people worldwide have no access to drinking water. The WHO also estimates that this causes about 1.6 million deaths yearly due to parasitic diseases and diarrhea. Treating water with chemicals to make it drinkable is also very expensive, thus limiting. But there may be an inexpensive alternative.
