Amazing Environmental House Cleaning Tools To Try Right Now

Sharing is caring!

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. I received the #MyBioDefense UV-C Sanitizing Wand for free or at a reduced price in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

Many of us use environmentally friendly cleaning products, but have you thought about the cleaning tools you’re using?

There are environmental house cleaning tools available.

Regardless of what you are cleaning, there is an eco-friendly tool to help and if living a green lifestyle is important to you these are products you are going to want.

Here are 11 recommendations for amazing cleaning tools to try right now.

There are also links to products I recommend from companies I have a referral relationship with. I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Microfiber Cloths

These super-absorbent cloths have changed the face of cleaning. The fibers that make up these cloths are woven very densely, and they can be used over and over. They come in different textures and colors. They even make microfiber cloths that mimic the texture of terry cloth.

Cellulose Cloths

Cellulose cloths make an eco-friendly replacement for paper towels. Cellulose is made from recycled newspaper that is specially treated.

Bamboo Scrub Brushes

Because bamboo grows so rapidly, it is an eco-friendly choice of natural material. Scrub brushes made from bamboo are water-resistant and often have natural, plant-based bristles.

Mops

Steam mops are an eco-friendly tool that uses steam, not chemicals, to deep clean. There are steam cleaning mops for hard floors as well. When it comes to steam mops, you might be wondering how to decide which one is the best for cleaning your floors.

I came across this very informative article on the top 5 best selling steam mop and cleaner models. I encourage you to check it out before making a decision on which steam mop to purchase because they are not all the same.

Other eco-friendly mops are those with bamboo handles, and with microfiber heads.

Brooms

Brooms with bamboo handles are durable and renewable. You can find bamboo brooms with natural, plant-based fibers. Some brooms are made with recycled plastic bristles. There are even “corn brooms” whose bristles are made from corn fibers. There are also brooms with recycled aluminum handles and plastic parts made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic.

Buckets

Buckets made from recycled aluminum or PET are now available. Some are made from recycled plastic bottles.

Mold Scrubbers

Instead of using bleach or harsh chemicals to clean the mold and mildew in your bathroom, you can purchase cleaning blocks made from woven nylon to remove mold stains.

Sanitizing Light Wands

These wands use ultraviolet light to kill germs, letting you skip the harsh chemicals. You can use them anywhere, from the kitchen and bathroom or the living and bedrooms. You can even take one with you when you travel. I personally use the #MyBioDefense UV-C Sanitizing Wand and have been very happy with it so far. Here are some of my thoughts on it.

Germs are everywhere and that is why you need the #MyBioDefense UV-C Sanitizing Wand. Indoors or outdoors there are lots of uses for this pocket sized folding UV-C light. This light is great for taking camping, cleaning up pet messes or keeping children toys sanitized – and that is just the beginning. I love how easy it is to use – and the safety shut-off features. Turn it towards yourself or close it and the #MyBioDefense UV-C Sanitizing Wand automatically shuts off. It won’t come on in your purse by itself either.

It does kill 99% of germs and bacteria on surfaces according to the information that came with it. Now I do not have a way to personally test this out for myself. This light also kills mold but it does require a longer treatment time – and I did test this on a small section of mold I found in my bathroom. The mold did eventually go away and has not come back. Do not use this on skin as it is not made for being used in that manner.

It does require 4 AA batteries to work or an alternative is to plug it into the USB adapter. I am loving this device because I can sanitize without the use of harsh chemicals and know for sure the treatment was effective. #MyBioDefense does have two UV lights in it and is very lightweight. I highly recommend everyone have at least one in their home, one in their vehicle – and if you have bug out bags, put one in there too!

Squeegees

This inexpensive tool saves a lot of chemical use around the home. Cleaning glass with just water is possible if you use a squeegee to remove the water.

Biodegradable Plastic Bags

Invest in some plastic bags that are biodegradable when you’re cleaning. There are some with fun or interesting designs, or just plain.

Laundry Umbrella

To dry your laundry the eco way, invest in an umbrella laundry rack. It takes up less space and holds more clothing than a traditional clothesline. You will save a lot of money cleaning clothes when you dry them on a laundry umbrella.

My goal is to share with you ways to be more environmentally friendly as well as organic living tips. Keep in mind that just because a product is environmentally friendly does not mean is is organic. Look for the certified organic seal if you want environmental house cleaning tools that are organic.
