DisneySide @Home Celebration Party

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by Disney Parks and MomSelect. I received free products in order to host the Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Back in January I blogged about receiving a DisneySide @Home Celebration Blogger Toolkit filled with a number of items I was to use to host a  DisneySide @Home Celebration Party in February or March.

We’ve had a lot of snow and extreme cold temperatures here in Indiana since I received the toolkit, so I put my party off several times.

Finally, this past Saturday – March 1, 2014 – I was able to “get the DisneySide Party on!”

Preparing for the party was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.

Preparing For The DisneySide @Home Celebration Party With My Cricut

The week of the party was filled with preparations.

Decorations had to be made to go along with the ones that Disney sent in order to turn my living room into a magical experience for my guests.

I used my Cricut Imagine and the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge to cut out some table and vase decorations.

Once the decorations were cut, I colored in the faces, added glitter and glued everything together.

I attached the silhouette Mickey and Minnie Mouse faces to the vase with scotch tape.

Baking Goodies For the DisneySide @Home Celebration Party

The next step was to bake cookies and cupcakes.

I used the Mickey Mouse cookie cutters and cupcake wrappers that were in the blogger toolkit.

The Mickey Mouse face came out best. The glove just did not bake the way I expected it to – but I did not icing it either which would have made a difference.

The star was ok but I really felt I wanted to stick with the Mickey Mouse face.

The cupcakes turned out great.

Once everything was baked, I put it all on cooling racks and waited.

I did not want to start decorating the cupcakes and cookies until they were cool.

I then began making Gelatin art flowers and butterflies to decorate the tops of the cupcakes with.

I also used Isomalt to create leaves and butterflies for the top of the cupcakes.

I chose flowers and butterflies because try as I may I could not locate Disney veining sheets or Isomalt molds.

Once this was done, it was time to icing the cookies and cupcakes. I used red, black and white icing on the cookies.

Most of the cupcakes had white icing but a few had the red because there was just a little bit left and I wanted to use it up.

I then used piping gel to attach the gelatin and Isomalt decorations to the top of the cupcakes.

Last Minute Preparations In Anticipation Of Our Guests Arrival

I set up the table, inflated the balloons, attached them to sticks and created the balloon bouquet.

There were overhead swirl decorations to hang and we attached those to a rope that hung above the table.

Things were beginning to look a lot like Disney in the living room – and kitchen.

Then again, I was wearing my Minnie Mouse ears so maybe some Disney magic creeped into the decorating process.

The next morning, I put the cupcakes on a charger, the cookies on another charger, filled a basket with Disney candy and began shaping the Mickey Mouse pizzas that would be served that afternoon.

Finally It’s Time For The DisneySide @Home Celebration Party

Once guests arrived, we ate pizza, watched the Disney Vacation DVD and then Beauty And The Beast Special Edition.

The kids ate all kinds of goodies throughout the party, drew on the runner cards and posters plus watched the movie on and off.

It was a fun day that lasted between three and four hours.

The kids had a blast – and honestly we did too.
