The sun is shining, yard work is calling – but you know you need to write. Did you ever have one of those days? For creative people I think it is harder to sit in one place and peck away at the keyboard when there is a chance to do something else that needs done, especially if you really enjoy doing it.
That is what today’s struggle is about. Do I work outside and in the greenhouse or write. Hmm, maybe if I could just write faster it would be easier. My new book looms on the horizon and I do want to get it wrote. Maybe tonight I will work on it some. I need to knock out 2,500 words minimum per day to hit my deadline. That really isn’t that much.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. What makes it hard for you to concentrate on writing?

What an email I got yesterday. It seems I wrote too much for my “101 English Garden Tips” book, so guess what? It looks like there is a going to be a third book. I do not have the official word on this yet, but if it is a go, at least half the new book will be wrote.
Did you ever have one of those days? I was quite suprised, but hey, I can handle another writing another book, espeically when it is over half way done.
I need to get to work on my “101 Organic Gardening Tips” book. I have started, but really want to be done by my deadline. I am anxious to hear the verdict on a new book too.
I’ll keep you posted.
Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

I have been looking for just the right words and the right sub-catagories for my new book “101 Organic Gardening Tips.” Starting a new project, rather it is for a magazine, newspaper or a book, seems to be the hardest part. Sometimes the words just flow and other times they are impossible to find. Is this writers’ block? Do really successful writers’ find a way around this?
I am not sure of the answers. What I do know is I hope by the end of the weekend the words will be flowing and the book will be done. A simple book such as this on a subject I am so knowledgeable about should be a piece of cake.
The other new project that I need to complete by month’s end is for a magazine called “Tropical Treasures” put out by Top Tropicals Nursery – http://www.toptropicals.com/ The article will be about caring for seedlings, again another easy topic that I am quite familiar with but am having a hard time finding the opening line.
There is an article by me in the new issue on “Growing Tropical Plants From Seed.” You can see the contents of or order a copy of this issue at http://www.ttmagazine.info/ttmagazine/html/current.htm
That is about it for new writing projects for this month.

A lot has happened over the past seven years. In addition to hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles, I have contributed to eleven anthologies, wrote on Amazon Short and two books. A third book is in progress and should be completed yet this year.
Sometimes it seems like “wow, I did all that” and other times it seems like “I should have done more, much more.” I often wonder if other authors feel that way at times.
Here is what I have accomplished since 2002 in the way of books and anthologies.

• 2006 Magical Almanac, contributed one chapter on wishing herbs and one on wedding superstitions. (St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd., 2006)
• 2005 All Things Chocolate, multi-contributor cookbook. (Marion, IN: Lead, Inc., 2005)
